Welcome Back
A warm welcome back to all BC families and staff!
We hope you’ve all enjoyed the wonderfully hot and sunny summer break ☀️ and have had plenty of opportunities to spend time with friends and family.
We’re also delighted to extend a very warm welcome to the many new pupils and families joining us this term. We look forward to meeting you and getting to know you over the coming weeks.
Pupil start dates:
- Thursday 3 September: All Years 1 – 6 pupils to return to school.
- Monday 7 September: All returning pupils in Reception, Nursery and Preschool to start.
- Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 September: All new pupils joining Reception, Nursery and Preschool will start on their allocated day.
Your child’s individual start date will already have been shared with you. If you have any questions about your child’s start date, please email or call the school office.
The school office will reopen from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm on Wednesday 2 September. During these times, parents can visit to purchase school uniform or submit wrap-around care requests (please see below).
To help families prepare for the term ahead, pupils in Years 1 to 6 will bring home their Autumn 1 class newsletter on Friday 4 September. Children in our EYFS classes will receive theirs on their individual start date between Monday 7 and Thursday 10 September.
Our next whole-school newsletter will be published on Friday 11 September.

Wrap Around Provision: Autumn 2026
Please note that there has been an exceptionally high demand for Breakfast Club and After-School Club places this term.
If you still require a place for your child in any of our wrap-around care clubs, please complete an application form, available from the school office.
We’ll do our very best to accommodate all requests. If a place isn’t currently available, your child will be added to the waiting list in the order applications are received.
Autumn Term 2026: Wrap-Around Club Dates
- Breakfast Club, 7.45–8.45am: Thursday 3 September to Friday 18 December
- Extended School Day Clubs, 3.30–4.30pm: Monday 14 September to Friday 11 December (please see further information below)
- After-School Club, 3.30–6.00pm: Thursday 3 September to Thursday 17 December
Breakfast Club: 7.45–8.45am
- Please ensure that your child arrives on time.
- Breakfast service finishes at 8.25am, giving children at least 15 minutes to eat without rushing before going to their classrooms at 8.40am.
Extended School Day Clubs: 3.30–4.30pm
- Club choices will be sent home on Monday 7 September, with clubs beginning the week commencing Monday 14 September.
- Sign-up will take place from 8.00–9.30am on Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 September.
- Please bring the completed club slip attached to the letter, together with the correct payment. We won’t be able to accept registrations without the completed slip.
Booster and Intervention Clubs: 3.30–4.30pm
- These clubs will also begin the week commencing Monday 14 September. Letters will be sent home to applicable pupils from Tuesday 8 September.
After-School Club Collections: 3.30–6.00pm
- Children must be collected by 6.00pm on each day they attend.
- Late collections will incur a charge of £5 for every five minutes.
- If you’re running late, please call the school office before 6.00pm so that staff are aware.

and welcome back, everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful summer break, enjoying time with friends and family and perhaps even exploring some exciting new places!
My summer was pawsome! The hot weather meant plenty of swimming and, most importantly, lots of doggy ice creams. YUM! 🐶😋 I loved catching up with my doggy friends and cooling off in streams and pools during our walks.
I also worked very hard at lazing around in the garden on warm summer afternoons. It’s important to take your holiday responsibilities seriously! I had some special visitors from New Zealand too, and we enjoyed lots of adventures around the UK, including Scotland. I discovered so many exciting new smells along the way.
I can’t wait to see you all again next week and meet the new children and families joining our BC family. I’ve missed you all sooo much and am 🐾 pawsitively excited about the new term. My tail is wagging already! 🐶

Upcoming Events
September 2026:
- Wednesday 2 September: INSET Day. School closed to pupils. The school office will be open for uniform sales, wrap-around care applications and general enquiries from 10.30am–12.30pm and 1.30–3.30pm.
- Thursday 3 September: Pupils in Years 1 to 6 return to school at 8.40am.
- Thursday 3 September: Breakfast Club and After-School Club begin for all registered pupils.
- Friday 4 September: Class newsletters for Years 1 to 6 are sent home.
- Monday 7 September: Returning EYFS pupils in Reception, Nursery and Preschool return to school.
- Monday 7 September: Extended School Day letters and club menus are sent home.
- Tuesday 8 to Thursday 10 September: New EYFS pupils in Reception, Nursery and Preschool start school on their allocated day.
- Tuesday 8 and Wednesday 9 September: Extended School Day sign-up is open from 8.00–9.30am and 3.00–4.30pm. The final deadline is 4.30pm on Wednesday 9 September.
- Monday 14 September: Extended School Day, Intervention and Booster Clubs begin.
- Thursday 17 September: Jeans for Genes non-uniform day. More information to follow.
- Tuesday 22 September: Year 5 trip to Fulham Palace. More information to follow.
- Thursday 24 September: Macmillan Coffee Morning in the Ground Floor Hall from 9.00–10.00am. Everyone is welcome. More information to follow.
School & PE Uniform:
Pupils are welcome to continue to wear their school summer uniform until the end of September. However, as the weather changes to more cooler and wetter patterns, all pupils will need to be wearing the Autumn/Winter School Uniform from the beginning of October, or sooner if they wish.
Please ensure that all pieces of school uniform are named.
Please ensure that your children are wearing the correct school uniform to school each day. It is important that all pupils are also wearing the correct school shoes – which are black shoes, and not trainers.
The Autumn/Winter term uniform options for pupils in Nursery to Year 6 are:
Girls:
- Dark grey trousers, skirt or skort
- Long-sleeve white shirt (Years 3 – 6)
- White school logo polo shirt (Nursery – Year 2)
- Tie (Years 3 – 6)
- V-neck navy school logo jumper (Years 3 – 6)
- Navy logo school sweatshirt (Nursery to Year 2)
- Blazer (Year 6 only)
- Plain black shoes (not trainers)
Boys:
- Dark grey shorts or trousers
- Long-sleeve white shirt (Years 3 – 6)
- White school logo polo shirt (Nursery – Year 2)
- Tie (Yers 3 -6)
- V-neck navy school logo jumper (Years 3 – 6)

On PE days, pupils must wear the school PE kit only.
This is especially important for safety. Having the correct shoes for physical activities, and clothing that is not restrictive, for completing physical activity are essential for helping us to ensure pupils complete all PE lessons safely.
The Autumn/Winter term PE kit for all pupils from Year Reception to Year 6 consists of:
- A school navy logo t-shirt
- Navy leggings, tracksuit bottoms or skort (no logos etc)
- Plain black trainers
- A school logo sweatshirt (not the v-neck jerseys for KS2 pupils. Sweatshirts are available from the school office in KS2 sizes).
Please note that pupils who do not have the correct PE kit will not be able to participate in their PE lesson. They will be given alternate work to do, and a note will be sent home highlighting why they were not able to complete their lesson that day.

Term Dates 2026-2027

Please remember that holidays will not be authorised during the school term, and that all children should be in school, and on time, every day.

Preschool, Nursery & Reception Admissions
We currently have the following Early Years places available for September 2026:
- Nursery Class (3-year-olds): Four full-time places and three part-time afternoon places
- Preschool (2-year-olds): One full-time place and two part-time afternoon places
Reception: September 2026
We currently have a waiting list for Reception places. Families are very welcome to book a tour and submit their admissions documents to join the waiting list.
If you’re looking for a Preschool, Nursery or Reception place for your child, we’d be delighted to welcome you for a 30-minute personalised EYFS tour.
You’ll have the opportunity to explore our Early Years setting, meet key staff and ask any questions about admissions or your child starting with us at Burdett-Coutts.
Contact us to register for a tour. Tours take place every Thursday during term time, with appointments available between 9.15am and 2.30pm.

Online Safety
Did you know that not all apps are safe for children, with many popular ones having certain age restrictions. For example, WhatsApp, Tik Tok, Instagram and Facebook operate a minimum age of 13+ years, and therefore primary school children should not have their own, nor access to, such apps or accounts.
As parents, you can help safeguard your children online by researching these apps and their purposes, as well as their age restrictions, BEFORE agreeing to download them. If you do choose to download them, remember that parental controls such as password protection, can be set up so that in-app downloads or purchases, cannot be completed by the children themselves.
For example, to prevent iTunes, Apple App Store purchases or downloads, all you need to do is:
- Go to Settings and tap Screen Time.
- Tap Content & App Privacy Restrictions. If asked, enter your passcode.
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases.
- Select a setting and set to Don’t Allow.
Tips on how to install parental controls on other apps and devices (Android or Apple) can easily be found online, or even from the app developers themselves.
Funding eligibility letter for Pupil Premium, Early Years Funding & Free School Meals
Due to changes in the eligibility criteria for Pupil Premium, Free School Meals and qualifying for 30 hours of funding for Nursery provision, many pupils currently enrolled at our school may now be entitled to one of these funding allocations.
We will be issuing letters to families who are currently not in receipt of the above, asking you to complete the registration for the identified funding option your child/ren maybe eligible for. Thank you so much in advance for your help in completing this.
This funding allows us to increase additional staffing hours to run booster groups, and an exciting range of extended day activities, that benefit our school and your child, and your cooperation is greatly appreciated at this difficult time for school budgets.
